Abstract |
As part of the process of retrieving and digitizing meteorological data from Angola from 1961 to 1974, at a time when Angola was still a Portuguese colony, emerged the need to elaborate the present work. This work is also a way of bringing knowledge of the existence of these data addressing themes inherent in the rescue and digitization process as well as the data itself, whose complementation will benefit and empower various sectors of the country's life. The data covered in this document were recorded by the former Angola Meteorological Services (SMA). During the process the data was copied from 1 to 1 (as true copies), trying to maintain the originality of the data, although there are some errors resulting from the transcription process carried out by the technician and whose correction will be carried out at later in the second phase of the rescue and digitization process, which is why the results presented here are yet preliminary.
The southern part of Angola was digitized by my colleague and both parts will later be corrected and compiled into a single climate database for the whole country for the period of 1961 to 1974 and after this it will be made available to the general public.
The whole process was developed within the SASSCAL project in the task 141 and the execution of the same was possible through the collaborations of the Instituto Superior Politécnico Tundavala with the project SASSCAL and the University of Coimbra where the monthly bulletins of the observations were reported and archived in the colony of Angola.
