| Abstract |
The Catalogue includes 3,888 records of 215 taxa (147 species and 68 subspecies) of the orders Carnivora, Lagomorpha, Eulipotyphla, Macroscelidea, Chiroptera and Rodentia. Since at that the first phase of the work no taxonomic specialists were available, records were catalogued as they were labelled, without taxonomic revision or update of taxonomic names. This taxonomic revision is currently under way and at the same time as all the information is being included in the collection manager software Specify 6. The data results from 25 expeditions carried out between 1955 and 1978, and from the work of 43 collectors among them Crawford-Cabral, Rosa Pinto, C. Simões, A. Ferreira, A. Pereira and F. Nóbrega. Rodentia is the best represented group, with 2,927 records, followed by Carnivora (395) and Chiroptera (247). The information was georeferenced in the WGS 1984 projection. The geographic range of records covers the whole Angola, coordinates 18 ° 35'24 ''S and 4 ° 5'60''S Latitude; 11 ° 5'24''E and 25 ° 1'48''E Longitude. Huíla province is the best represented with 46.8% of the records. |
