Abstract |
The Module for Training in Remote Sensing is a course taught by a specialist from the Institute of Tropical Scientific Research (Portugal) at the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Huila, within the framework of the SASSCAL (Task 301) project. The course, with a duration of 60 hours, had as objectives: 1) To promote the learning of the fundamentals of Remote Detection; 2) Expose the main types of earth observation satellites, data formats and periodicity; 3) Use satellite imagery processing software; 4) Download remote sensing images via the web; 5) Use the basic methods of interpretation and manipulation of images; 6) Know the main corrections to apply to satellite images; 7) Apply spectral image classification algorithms to create thematic maps compatible with the geographic databases usable in GIS; 8) Know and apply methods of sampling and validation of the information generated; 9) Identify potentialities and limitations of satellite images as a source of information for land cover mapping. |
