| Abstract |
Little is known about the occurrence and distribution of Clarias in Angola, but studies already carried out indicate that there is a wide distribution across the Angolan territory. It is a group of extreme socio-economic importance and for aquaculture; Since it constituted the main economic and nutritional source of a good part of the Angolan population. Taking into account these aspects, we focus on the present work and establish the following objectives: To identify and characterize the population of Claridae present in the section corresponding to Calumbo Lagoon - Baixo Kuanza (Luanda); There fore propose measures of management of this fishing resource. The individuals were collected from July 2014 to March 2015. We used as methodology: the active catch of the individuals using fishing nets. The analysis and characterization of the collected individuals allowed to identify them, as belonging to the species Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822), (Clariidae, Siluriformes). In total, 103 (one hundred and tree) individuals, differentiated in 44 males and 59 females, were captured. |
