Author Luetkemeier, R. & S. Liehr ?
Abstract This paper builds upon previous work done in the target area on the perception of drought and the physical hazard of drought to construct a comprehensive and integrated assessment tool of drought risk. Environmental data on the drought hazard is joint with socio-economic data on the vulnerability of households in the Basin. Two household surveys were conducted in both countries with a total sample size of about 461 to collect primary information for the drought risk index. Applying a newly developed methodology to analyse the water and food consumption patterns with varying importance during the rainy and the dry seasons. Different weighting schemes were applied to combine the different data formats and acknowledge the domain of uncertainty attached to the calculation procedures. ?
