Abstract |
The knowledge of the interactive influence of biophysical environment, carnivore-prey interaction and carnivore conflict mitigation strategies has been suggested as virtuous indicator of carnivore predation on livestock risk in agroecosystems. Local people’s ecological knowledge (Rutina et al., 2015; Rutina et al., 2017), landscape variables (Mogwera, 2017) and carnivore interaction with their wild and domestic prey (Veliex, 2011; Ngaka, 2016; Mogwera, 2017) have been individually suggested to influence carnivore predation on livestock in the study area. We used spatial and temporal data on incidents of carnivore predation on livestock, landscape variables, density of carnivores, wild herbivores and pastorists Local Ecological Knowledge to tomodel factors that influence carnivore predation on livestock risk areas in Makgadikgadi agro-ecosyem, northern Botswana. |
